Information about the provider

Leo Wittwer GmbH & Co. KG Industriestraße 28 75217 Birkenfeld

Applicable requirements

The accessibility requirements for services are derived from the Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz (BFSG), in particular from § 14 BFSG in conjunction with §3 (1) BFSG, as well as the Verordnung zum Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz (BFSGV). Services are accessible if they can be found, accessed and used by people with disabilities in the usual way, without significant difficulty and, in principle, without external assistance.

Description of the service

At leowittwer.de, you can get a comprehensive overview of our diverse range of jewellery: we present product information in clearly structured categories, each accompanied by images and descriptions. You can use the search function to find jewellery and other content on the website. You have the option of ordering jewellery to view in person at our partner jewellers.

To present the jewellery, we use interactive features with animations and the option to configure jewellery items.

Possible uses of our services

At Leo Wittwer, we are committed to making leowittwer.de accessible and inclusive so that our marketplace is accessible to everyone. To this end, we implement the requirements of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2, with compliance levels A and AA, so that our services can be used by everyone. The options for barrier-free use are continuously being developed.

Perceptibility

Information and controls are presented in such a way that they can be easily perceived.

Video content without alternatives [WCAG 2.2, criterion 1.2.2 Captions (pre-recorded), 1.2.3 Audio description or media alternative (pre-recorded), 1.2.5 Audio description (pre-recorded)] Description: Some pre-recorded video content on our website/app, particularly older or embedded videos from third-party providers, currently lacks accurate synchronised captions, transcripts or appropriate audio descriptions for visual content.

Next steps: We will endeavour to add subtitles/alt text on an ongoing basis, primarily for new videos.

Images without alternative text [WCAG 2.2, criterion 1.1.1 Non-text content] Description: Some images, including some information graphics, icons and non-decorative images throughout the website/app, are missing descriptive alternative text.

This content is available on the website/app as purely additional functions and does not fall under the core functionality of the shop.

Next steps: This will be reviewed regularly and resolved in stages depending on business value and available resources.

Colour contrasts Description: When designing our user interfaces, we ensure sufficient colour contrasts to improve readability. In some places, text is difficult to read, especially on image backgrounds.

The content is usually decorative additional information that does not affect the core functionality of the shop.

Next steps: This will be reviewed regularly and resolved in stages depending on business value and available resources.

Operability

Problems with keyboard navigation [WCAG 2.2, criterion 2.1.1 Keyboard, 2.1.2 No keyboard trap] Description: Certain interactive elements (e.g. drop-down menus, custom controls, modules or carousels) on the website/app cannot be fully operated using the keyboard (tab, enter and space bar). In some cases, the keyboard focus may remain trapped in a specific component, preventing the user from moving away.

Next steps: We regularly test existing and new features. This will be improved gradually over time so that all parts of the shop are easily accessible via the keyboard.

Insufficient focus indication [WCAG 2.2, criterion 2.4.7 Focus visible] Description: The visual focus indicator (e.g. outline, highlighting) for interactive elements (links, buttons, form fields) is missing in some cases, is too subtle or inconsistent in different parts of the website/app, especially when navigating with a keyboard.

Next steps: We regularly test existing and new features. This will be improved gradually over time so that all parts of the shop are easily accessible via the keyboard.

Inaccessible forms and input fields [WCAG 2.2, criterion 3.3.2 Labels or instructions, 4.1.2 Name, role, value] Description: Some form input fields lack the correct programmatic labels or clear instructions, and error messages are not always programmatically associated with the corresponding fields. Custom form elements may not correctly convey their name, role, and value to assistive technologies.

Next steps: We regularly test existing and newly added features. This will be improved gradually over time so that all parts of the shop are easily accessible via the keyboard.

Time limits without options [WCAG 2.2, criterion 2.2.1 Adjustable time settings] Description: Some sessions or interactive processes on the website/app (e.g. login sessions, quizzes or booking processes) have fixed time limits without users having the option to extend, disable or adjust them.

This can disadvantage users with cognitive disabilities, limited dexterity, or users of assistive technologies who need more time to complete tasks.

Next steps: We will review all time-limited actions to give users the option to extend or remove the deadlines where appropriate.

comprehensibility

We use clear language to describe our products and on our service pages. Our navigation is clearly structured and intuitive.

robustness

leowittwer.de is primarily developed using standardised components that have been optimised and tested for barrier-free usability. In the development process, we use test criteria derived from the WCAG guidelines to ensure compatibility with various browsers and assistive technologies. We regularly test otto.de to ensure that all functions are easy to use and understand.

Incomplete or incorrect ARIA implementation [WCAG 2.2, criterion 4.1.2 Name, role, value] Description: Some custom user interface components (e.g., custom tabs, accordions, dynamic content updates) do not fully or correctly use WAI-ARIA attributes (roles, states, properties). This includes cases where ARIA attributes are used incorrectly or essential attributes are missing.

Next steps: We will review all custom UI components and train our development team on proper WAI-ARIA patterns. We intend to do this on an ongoing basis to ensure compliance with legal requirements.

Technical information

We rely on the latest technologies to ensure that our content is accessible on various devices and platforms.

Browser compatibility: The website is optimised for the latest versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge. Responsive design: Our pages automatically adapt to different screen sizes to ensure a consistent user experience. Assistive technologies: We support the use of screen readers and other assistive technologies to facilitate navigation and interaction. HTML and WAI-ARIA: Our pages make extensive use of semantic HTML and WAI-ARIA roles to improve accessibility for people who use assistive technologies.
